Sign Petition To Finance & Def Ministers For Making Retired Soldier’s Pension Eligible For Bank Loans

A petition is being submitted on the subject. Please sign it by filling details and submit. Petition then will be delivered to all addresses in their e mails on your behalf. Please speak out to eradicate discrimination. The language of petition is given below.

Dear Honourable Finance Minister & Defence Minister of India

A petition to make retired soldier’s pension eligible for bank loans is hereby submitted for your kind consideration.

It may please be appreciated that bulk of army soldiers retire at young age with govt assured OROP pension. Many of them need bank loans to construct or renovate their houses or buy a vehicle or personal loans to arrange marriages or to start some business. But as per current bank loan policies their pension is not counted as income and their loan applications are rejected.

It puts soldiers in a position of financial disadvantage in civilian domain. Though at one end govt provides up to Rs one crores loan without security but on other hand young soldiers pension is not counted as income for bank loans. This amounts to discrimination.

In view of above, I therefore request you through this petition, to bring polices to declare pension of soldier’s as income for purpose of taking bank loans.

In fact ideal would be to have dedicated Defence Bank. Many democratic countries have such banks which fulfill financial needs of not only serving soldiers but retired too.

I shall be grateful.

    1. The provision is only for pension loan and not for loans like for housing, cars etc. Imagine a infantry soldier who retires at age of 45 and he wants housing loan? He is not eligible as per current provisions as his pension is not considered as income to be eligible for housing loan. His pension is though taxable as income but he is denied rights to avail housing loan and get tax benefits?
